Royal Berkshire

1st December 2019

Round thirteen of the championship turned out to be quite a tricky match with the venue’s F1’s shoaled up and showing is some areas and not in others. Carp were also always going to play a major part in this match and a real bonus for anyone managing to find one or two. Match captain Fred Fairman ran out winner and had a nice day’s fishing, catching a level 35lbs of F1’s on a method feeder and banded pellet fished tight across to the island. In second place, and less than a pound behind was Dave Mustoe. Dave opted to fish a maggot feeder to the island and got off to a good start with an F1 on his first cast which was followed shortly by a carp. A mid match lull was followed by three good sized carp caught in the latter stages boosted his weight to give him the runner up spot. Keith Gibson took third place with three carp and some F1’s, all caught on the pole, fished to the tree down to his right. Section winners were Frank Bursnall, Glen Briggs and Stuart Pollmer. Stuart also won the specimen on the day with a carp of 13-7-0. This was always going to be a difficult match with some very cold nights leading up to it, but the fishery held up quite well and most had a few bites. We will now be taking a six week break from the series and will resume in the new year on January 19th at Wood Lane.

1 – Fred Fairman – 35-0-0
2 – Dave Mustoe – 34-2-0
3 – Keith Gibson – 21-0-0

Stuart Pollmer – Carp – 13-7-0
