Pondwood 22nd Jan ’23

This match was scheduled for lake two at Pondwood but because the lake was heavily frozen and unfishable it was switched to the snake on sections two and three which was partially clear of ice due to the aerators in each peg. Having said that, the match would not have been able to go ahead if it wasn’t for the hard work of the ice breaking team of Mick Catten, Perry Fairclough, Stuart Pollmer, Alistair Christie and Clive Bunday who cleared thick ice in both sections on behalf of their club mates, so a massive thank you to these lads.

As you can imagine, the match itself was a very patchy affair with some people struggling to get a bite and several anglers blanking. Having said that, there were still some very good weights and Darren Chenery won the match with a magnificent 47lbs of carp which he caught dobbing bread and corn skins along the far bank.

The runner up spot went to Glen Briggs who caught 27lbs of carp dobbing bread to the reeds on the far bank and close behind in third spot with 26lb was James Fletcher who caught using similar tactics. The section winners were Ryan Fairclough and Clive Bunday, and the specimen was won by Glen Briggs with a 7-7-0 carp.
