River Colne – Rickmansworth
River Colne – Rickmansworth
General Description
This mile-long stretch of the River Colne is home to some truly exciting sport.
- Chub & Barbel – hard-fighting and powerful, a key draw for many anglers.
- Roach & Dace shoals – can be located by those willing to roam and explore.
- Bream shoals – huge numbers between the lower Money Weir and the upstream sluice, with individual fish recorded at over 13 lbs.
- Predator fishing – pike and perch provide superb roving sport.
- River carp – very powerful, with fish approaching 30 lbs known to test even the strongest tackle.
A legendary fish in the middle reaches, known locally as “The Beast”, adds an extra element of mystery and challenge to this venue.
There’s also a friendly and regular evening community of dusk-to-midnight anglers, providing both good company and a safe fishing environment.
Planned improvements are underway, including an active stocking programme in conjunction with the Environment Agency.
