River Colne – Denham

River Colne – Denham

General Description

This stretch of the River Colne offers two distinct sections – the central gravels and the upstream stretch by the golf club.

  • Upstream Section – currently overgrown and unmanaged due to the HS2 environmentalist camp. With their removal and HS2 vacating the area, swims will be reinstated over the coming seasons. A peaceful paradise, where the only interruptions are the calls of white egrets and the drumming of woodpeckers.
  • Central Gravels – a versatile section ideal for all types of coarse angling. From rolling luncheon meat into a barbel’s lair to trotting a stick float, this area has produced personal bests for many anglers. Work is also planned to open up swims downstream of the footbridge to the confluence with the Misbourne, though recent flooding delayed this during the close season.
