Golf Course Lakes
Golf Course Lakes
General Description
Nestled in the heart of the Colne Valley, the Golf Course Lakes are one of its best-kept secrets.
Set in a conservation area steeped in history, members have a choice of two lakes of varying difficulty.
Both are surrounded by idyllic, peaceful scenery and a wide variety of wildlife.
Booking System
⚠️ The Golf Course Lakes operate on a strict booking system.
All members are required to book by texting 07939 507009 stating:
- Your name
- Car registration
- Lake (North or South)
- Duration of visit
This applies whether you are fishing or just walking round.
Any member failing to book before entering the site will be asked to leave and reported to the committee.
The South Lake
Approximately 3.5 acres in size, this beautiful lake contains around 125 second-generation Leney carp,
averaging 17–22lb, with a handful even larger. With their weight gain since stocking, we predict a
large head of 30lb carp within the next few years.
The South Lake also holds a good head of tench, plus pike, eels, and perch.
Multiple captures of specimen-size tench are not uncommon during the warmer months.
The North Lake
At around 4.5 acres, the North Lake is a throwback to a bygone era: low-stock, gin-clear water,
full of natural food, making this a challenging but rewarding venue.
There is an estimated stock of around 35 classic old English carp, with plans to increase this to 50 over the next few seasons.
Pike provide good winter sport, and while a few specimen-size tench remain, they are even more elusive than the carp.
⚠️ Note: There is a large piece of sunken machinery at the bird hide end.
A plastic duck marks its position — do not cast past this duck.
