Old Bury Hill

2nd September 2018

The beautiful Old Bury Hill fishery was the setting for round four of the championship series on Sunday. Nineteen anglers lined up for the match and with a lovely sunny day on offer, all that was needed was for the venue’s resident bream to feed to complete the scene. The bream did just that for Glen Briggs who put a level 58lbs on the scales to take the honours. Glen caught small bream and skimmers steadily on the method feeder during the day and then added another 25lbs in the last ninety minutes on the pole. Runner up Mick Catten Jnr had a lovely days fishing catching mainly skimmers on the pole for a total of 35-8-0. Michael caught on pinkies over Sensas Lake and leam but later started to add micros to his feed, a change which saw his catch rate increase considerably. Third place went to Declan Kelly with 30-3-0 of small bream and fourth was Ron Chenery with 28lbs. Section winners were Ron Chenery and Bob Lane and also worth a mention is a 12-9-0 carp caught by Gary Bloomfield in the margins in the latter stages of the match. A word about the venue itself – Old Bury Hill is very popular with the match group and with that in mind we are trying to procure it for two matches for the next series. Ron has already booked it for September 15th next year and is looking to make another booking for April 2020.
