Round twenty one of the club championship series was due to take place at Billet Lane, but due to low water levels making it unsuitable, the match had to be switched to another venue. The club decided to give the Jubilee river a try and a decent turn out of nineteen anglers attended with many of them having been there before. The venue itself looked lovely with reed lined banks and good parking. Unfortunately, the venue also attracted hordes of swimmers, paddle boarders, dogs and screaming children in the upstream section, and in the early pegs downstream. The match itself turned out to be a bit of an endurance test in the searing heat and Mick Catten Jnr needed just 7-12-0 of caster caught roach to take top spot. Second place went to Graham Fox with 6-5-0 and Mike Smith was close behind in third with 6-2-0. The section winners were Dave Mustoe and Glen Briggs and the specimen was won by Martin Smith. It was also the final of the Knockout Cup between Perry Fairclough and Doug Read. This was a hard-fought battle by both anglers, but the title went to Perry in the end who put a level 4lbs on the scales to Doug’s 2-3-0. Congratulations to Perry, Knockout Champion 2019/2020.
