Len’s and Campbell’s lakes at Milton Pools played host to round fifteen of the championship on Sunday and with eighteen anglers fishing there was a bit of room for everyone. The word was that Campbell’s was the lake likeliest to produce the winner and when veteran Frank Bursnall pulled peg three on Campbell’s out of the bag he made no mistake and did just that. Fishing maggot at eleven metres down the edge to his left, Frank took a steady run of small carp throughout the day and put 44-13-0 on the scales, a respectable weight in the cold windy conditions. In second place and only ounces behind Frank was Graham Fox who destroyed the opposition on Len’s with 44-1-0 of small carp caught on mainly maggots fished shallow on the waggler fished tight to the lily pad stalks. Third place went to Declan Kelly who was struggling on Campbell’s until he decided to fish short under the platform to his right. This move immediately produced small carp to give Declan 40-10-0. The ever consistent Perry Fairclough finished fourth and won the Campbell’s section, whist Mick Catten Jnr won the Len’s section. Winner of the specimen was Perry with a carp of 6-7-0. In general, this was a decent match with some good weights although there were some who struggled on Len’s. The championship table is shaping up nicely and with only five matches remaining there’s everything to play for.
1 – Frank Bursnall – 44-13-0
2 – Graham Fox – 44-1-0
3 – Declan Kelly – 40-10-0
Perry Fairclough – Carp – 6-7-0
