Charity Lure Day @ Rickmansworth Colne

The Rickmansworth stretch of River Colne will be closed on Sunday 27th January for the following charity event organised by Eddie Edwards.

There will be places for 15 URACS members if anyone wishes to enter?

Sunday 27th January 2019:

  • Lure only fishing contest to raise funds for Noah’s Ark Childrens Hospice in Watford
  • Max of 60 contestants, i.e.
    • 15 Blenheim members
    • 15 NHWAS members
    • 15 URACS members
    • 15 Guests.

Ticket prices will be £10 for members of any of the three clubs, and £15 for guests
( I shall attempt to set up a paypal account )

Registration will be at Rickmansworth Aquadrome car park at 8am. Fishing from 9am until 2.30pm, and catch reports submitted either in person at the aquadrome car park, or via text message to 07890 290634 ( either method by 3pm latest )
There will be three winners on the day, i.e.
1st place: Combined Length of one Pike and one Perch.
2nd place: Longest Perch.
3rd place: Longest Pike
Presentations will be at 3.30 pm

Fishing will take place on Blenheim’s stretch of the Grand Union Canal from Batchworth Lock down to Black Jacks Mill Lock.
Thanks to URACS and NHWAS, fishing will also be allowed on the River Colne from Tescos on the GUC down to the roadbridge in Springwell Lane. This is a great opportunity to fish otherwise private stretches of river.

Subsequent to registration, contestants may choose to drive to either the free car park on the canal at Springwell Lane, or park in the Coy Carp car park.
( maps with post codes will be available to non local guests at registration )

Photos of your fish must be on a measuring tape/board or device. These are readily available, and can be seen on the attached link ****************** ( to be added )
The photos must also include the unique identification tag given to you at registration.

You must carry and use an unhooking mat, appropriate unhooking tools which should include wire cutters.

Anyone in violation of the rules will be pinned to a washing line by their ears and beaten with a bank stick.

Prizes will not be of a roll over lottery win size, the object is simply to initiate an inaugural match to raise money for a wonderful cause.
I am anticipating a few sponsors and will publish details soon.
I won’t be fishing the event, but will be up and down the canal and river looking out for scallywags hiding tubs of worms in their Y fronts.
Please PM me your intention to compete, the closing date for entry is Friday 11th Jan 2019.

If anyone wishes to assist me in marshalling on the day, please get in touch.

Cheers, Eddie.
