Match winner Jon Colman has done consistently well all series to finish in a well deserved third place overall
22nd April 2018
Jon Colman finished the championship series in style with a superb win, recording the heaviest match weight of the series at Wood Lane on Sunday. Feeding and fishing hard 6ml pellet on two lines, he switched between them to take a steady run of carp for a level 85-0-0. In second place, only eight ounces behind Jon with 84-8-0 was Glen Briggs who caught carp fishing long to the island then and had a great last hour catching some decent fish down the edge to boost his weight. Third on the day was Dave Cook who fished shallow to the rushes in permanent peg twelve to take carp to double figures and record a final weight of 69-2-0. Richard day did well to finish fourth with 67-14-0 from a peg with no real form. Richard fed 4ml pellets on the waggler line with some success, but when he switched to fishing a 4ml hookbait shallow, his catch rate improved dramatically. Glen Briggs is this year’s club champion with Graham Fox finishing as runner up, a superb performance in his debut season. Jon Colman has had an excellent series and is steadily improving his game each year. Match captain Fred Fairman finished fourth and the up-and-coming Declan Kelly finished in fifth place. This has been another excellent series that has been very well supported by the match group with some great attendances and some great banter. Roll on the next one….
