Birthday boy Simon Pavey celebrated on the day with his first win of current the series
1st October 2017
Round seven of the championship series proved to be a real grueller on the Thames at Runnymede on Sunday. With the river running crystal clear, the hoards of resident roach were difficult to tempt especially with a strong downstream wind making presentation difficult. Simon Pavey needed only 5-3-0 to take top spot. Following a slow start to the match, with Simon switching between pole and feeder, he eventually managed to temp some roach into feeding by lightly loose feeding casters on the pole line. This win see’s Simon move up to joint sixth in the table. Second place went to the currently un-stoppable Mike Smith who had a mixed bag taken on the pole and third was Graham Fox with a catch of mainly perch taken on long pole/worm tactics. Section winners were Frank Bursnall and Mick Catten jnr and the specimen was an 0-13-0 perch caught by Graham Fox.
1 – Simon Pavey – 5-3-0
2 – Mike Smith – 4-13-0
3 – Graham Fox – 4-4-0
Graham Fox – Perch – 0-13-0
