Winner Perry Fairclough needed only two bream and a perch to take top spot in this difficult match on a crystal clear Thames
6th August 2017
The original venue on the river Thames at Staines had to be cancelled due to new parking restrictions but we were able to stay on the river by switching the venue to nearby Molesey. Perry Fairclough won a close match with two bream and a small perch on the feeder for 11-0-0 which included a fine specimen of 7lbs. In second place was Simon Pavey who had two bream in his first two casts on the feeder which went 8-0-0. Third was Ron Chenery, who fished maggot over caster in groundbait and soil on the pole to take a mixed bag of roach, perch, dace and bleak for 7-9-0. The specimen on the day was perch and was won by Graham Fox with a nice 1-0-0 fish caught over chopped worm and caster. Although the fishing was difficult due to the clarity of the water and the bright sunshine, the general feeling was that this venue has potential for future matches as the parking and towpath are excellent and reports suggest there are large numbers of roach, perch and dace and possible huge bags of bream to be had in the right conditions.
